Isle of Gigha

The Isle of Gigha is a small island off the west coast of Kintyre in Scotland. The island has a population of about 150 people, many of whom speak Scottish Gaelic. Because it is set on the eastern shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Gigha attracts a wide variety of sea birds

Lunga

Lunga is the largest of the Treshnish Isles. Populated until the 19th century Lunga still bears the remains of black houses, with the remains of the ruined village lying to the northeast of the island.

Lunga has also been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of its abundance of plant life.  Grey seals inhabit the waters surrounding the island, while birdlife including puffins and razorbills breed on Lunga.

Fair Isle

Fair Isle is located in northern Scotland, about halfway between mainland Shetland and the Orkney islands. It is famous for its bird observatory and a traditional style of knitting, and is the most remote inhabited island in the United Kingdom.

Fair Isle has a permanent bird observatory, and can claim to be the best place to find rare birds in Britain.

Mousa

Mousa is a small island located about a mile off the east coast of Mainland Shetland. Uninhabited since the nineteenth century, Mousa is known for the Broch of Mousa, an Iron Age round tower, and is designated as a Special Protection Area for storm-petrel breeding colonies.
