16 Feb Cape Town, South Africa
Set against the backdrop of Table Mountain, Cape Town is one of the world’s most attractive cities. It offers a wealth of attractions including the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated and of course Table Mountain, whose summit you can ascend in a rotating gondola, giving you 360˚ views of the city below. Alternatively join an excursion to Stellenbosch to taste the famous wines of the Western Cape.

Full day.

Sail into Cape Town, which has a spectacular setting dominated by flat-topped Table Mountain.

Spend the day exploring this magnificent capital of the Western Cape. If the weather’s fine, why not take the cable car ride to the summit of Table Mountain for unrivalled views, enjoy a boat trip over to poignant Robben Island, or join a tour through the heart of the city?

Then enjoy an evening out in the city, perhaps at one of the fine restaurants surrounding the famous Victoria and Alfred Waterfront before Saga Ruby sails away late in the evening.

18 Feb East London, South Africa
Set beside the Buffalo River on the Eastern Cape’s magnificent Indian Ocean coast, East London was founded in 1847. An attractive town with fine buildings, it is also a popular resort with some beautiful golden-sand beaches. During your stay perhaps browse the waterfront shops of Latimers Landing or visit the Gately House Museum, former home of East London’s mayor.

24 Feb Richards Bay, South Africa
South Africa’s largest harbour is located on a lagoon on the Mhlatuze River on the northern coast. The town is now a popular holiday destination with unspoilt beaches, year-round sunshine and excellent recreational facilities. Join an excursion to learn about Zulu culture at the ‘living museum’ of DumaZulu, a traditional village which is home to over 50 Zulu residents.

Full day and evening.

Set in a lagoon in South Africa’s Mhatuze River, Richards Bay takes its name from Admiral Sir FW Richards, who cruised here during the Anglo-Zulu War.

A game reserve since the 1930s, the lagoon and its surrounds has a somewhat Caribbean feel, making it unique in South Africa. Perhaps join an optional game drive through Hluhluwe or a wetlands cruise in the St Lucia Nature Reserve.

25 Feb Durban, South Africa
Durban began life as a remote trading outpost and has developed into a thriving city-port. The surrounding landscape is an eclectic mix of lush hills, soaring skyscrapers and sandy beaches. Enjoy a tour of the city or join an excursion to the colonial city of Pietermaritzburg.
