Itinerary

Sunday
Board Amaryllis at Dijon's Port du Canal for a champagne reception.

Monday
Spend the morning relaxing on board, cruising toward the charming village of Fleur-sur-Ouche. Later, enjoy a visit to the Clos de Vougeot, a medieval chateau surrounded by vineyards and the headquarters of the Chevaliers du Tastevin, whose special label is annually awarded to the finest Côte d'Or vintages.

Tuesday
After breakfast, a guided walking tour of Dijon is available, including a visit to the 14th century Ducal Palace, and the "Maille" mustard shop, its windows filled with ceramic mustard jars. Many of the town's buildings have distinctive, multi-coloured roofs. Return to the barge for lunch and cruise to the delightful village of Gissey.

Wednesday
Cruise to La Bussiére and visit l'Abbaye de la Bussiére, established in the 12th century by Cistercian monks from Cîteaux. Enjoy a tour of the grounds, followed by an afternoon visit to the 15th century Château de Savigny-lés-Beaune, surrounded by its own famous vineyards.

Thursday
Relax with a beautiful morning cruise through the rolling hills and past the woods and fields of the Ouche Valley to Pont d'Ouche. Take a guided tour of the walled city of Beaune, the capital of the wine region of Burgundy. Visit the famous Hôtel-Dieu, Hospices de Beaune, with its striking 15th century wooden ceiling beams and brightly coloured Flemish roof tiles and sample some of the local wines.

Friday
Cruise the Canal de Bourgogne to Escommes before disembarking to visit the medieval village of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, over-looking the vineyards of the Cote d'Or. Savour the stunning scenery with a tour of the surrounding countryside while, on board, the chef prepares a memorable feast for your farewell dinner.

Ports

Beaune

Beaune is the capital of Burgundy's wine country, with walled fortifications and innumerable shops, restaurants, and cafés for the hordes of tourists and oenophiles who come to savor medieval atmosphere and sample wines from the region's world-class vineyards. The city is home to the Hôtel-Dieu of the Hospices de Beaune, a hospital from the Middle Ages (now a museum) that was built in 1443 to care for sick and starving residents of the town. You can still see the rooms and beds where patients received care until the 20th Century, and the building itself is a beautifully preserved Gothic masterpiece with an arcaded courtyard and a multicolored tile roof.
