Ports

Civitavecchia

Civitavecchia is the closest port to Rome. It serves mostly as a gateway, however there are still a few points of interest in this seaside town. Most notably the Fort of Michelangelo, built in the 1500s as a major defence post. Also of interest are the ancient ruins of the Baths of Traiano, a complex of Roman Baths once used for their therapeutic benefits.

Rome

Civitavecchia is the closest port to the Eternal city, Rome. Rome has been the focal point for many of the world's greatest artists, architects, rulers and philosophers. Dubrovnik

On the beautiful Adriatic coast sits the ancient walled city of Dubrovnik, where medieval ramparts encircle a tight maze of narrow streets and ornate stone buildings. Kerkyra

Stroll through the picturesque narrow streets, have a coffee on the Esplanade, spend a relaxed few hours in the Old Town of Corfu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The white Achilleion - one of the Austrian Empress Elisabeth's favourite spots - is only a few kilometres outside of Kerkyra. After her death, Kaiser Wilhelm II purchased the elegant estate and commissioned the "Victorious Achilles", which can still be seen in the park today. The beautiful bays and beaches of the west coast will accompany you to Palaiokastritsa. The monastery Panagia Theotokos lords over the region from a high cliff. The lovingly cultivated complex from the 18th and 19th centuries offers marvellous views of the coast and the surroundings.

Corfu

One of lushest of the Greek Isles, Corfu is rimmed by dramatic blue waters and topped with tranquil hillside villages. A collection of quaint cafes in the town of Corfu and the island's secluded coves and sandy beaches could only be found in the Greek Isles.

Holland America Line is proud to announce the launch of the newest member of our world-renowned Vista-class ships - the ms Noordam. Sailing from the new homeport of New York City, the 1,918-passenger ship will sail a series of 10- and 11-day Caribbean cruises which began with a maiden voyage on February 22. Summer cruises will operate in Europe and the Mediterranean before the ship returns to New York and the Caribbean in the autumn of 2006.
