Volos

Discovery sails into the Pagasitic Gulf to call at Volos, the capital of Magnesia that nestles in the shadow of the Pelion Mountains. Beyond the popular resort town and its busy promenade lie a number of interesting archaeological sites. These include the prehistoric settlement of Dimini with its ruined acropolis, walls and two beehive tombs dating back as far as 4000 BC.
