Day 2 - Prague Sightseeing This morning following breakfast, take a guided walking tour of Prague's Old Town. Visit the 1,000 year old Hradcany Castle courtyard and St Vitus. Then stroll across beautiful Charles Bridge, which crosses the Vltave River and links Prague's Old Town with the city's imposing castle, on the way to the Old Market Square. After the tour, enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure to discover Prague independently. B
Day 3 - Prague at Leisure Today enjoy a day at leisure to relax or further explore the sights of Prague for yourself. Perhaps wander the World Heritage listed historic town centre, with it's ancient architecture and wealth of cultural attractions. Or you may wish to join an optional excursion to the Terezin Concentration Camp Memorial to learn about the history of the infamous site (own expense). B
Day 4 - Prague, Karlovy Vary, Nuremberg Today travel via the spa town of Karlovy Vary to Nuremberg, a historic city and the capital of Franconia. On arrival, board your luxury river ship and tonight, enjoy the Captain's Gala Welcome Dinner with your Tour Director and fellow passengers.

Day 5 - Nuremberg Nuremberg played a pivotal role for the Nazi Party and was thus systematically bombed by the British and US air forces during World War II. It went on to act as the symbolic host of the Nuremberg Trials. Today, you may like to take a medieval tour of the city, including the 900 year old ramparts that surround Nuremberg, the Imperial Castle, the Kaiserburg Fortress and more. Alternatively, discover key historic landmarks of wartime Germany during a World War II themed tour. At lunch, reboard your ship and continue along the Main-Danube Canal. Today, thanks to the series of stair step locks, you will arrive at the highest point of the cruise, 435 metres above sea level, and cross Europe's Continental Divide. Enjoy a fascinating lecture on the history of the canal project as you cruise. B, L, D
Day 6 - Regensburg Arrive in Regensburg today, one of Germany's best preserved medieval cities. Here you will see one of the oldest bridges crossing the Danube. Embark on a walking tour that includes the Old Town Hall, the city centre and the Porta Pretoria, gates to a Roman fort built in 179 AD. Alternatively, enjoy a guided bike tour to the temple of Walhalla. Then, enjoy free time or take an optional excursion to Weltenburg Abbey in the Danube Gorge (own expense). B, L, D
Day 7 - Passau, Linz This morning arrive in Passau, where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube. Disembark here and enjoy a tour of Passau, including a trip to St Stephen's Cathedral. Alternatively, perhaps travel by coach to the city of Salzburg and take a guided tour around the city's famous 'Sound of Music' sights (own expense). After dinner on board tonight, perhaps enjoy an evening stroll through the historic city of Linz. B, L, D
Day 8 - Melk, Vienna Cruise through the scenic Strudengau region to the Wachau Valley this morning and disembark your ship for a tour of Melk Abbey, one of the world's most famous monastic sites. Located high above the town of Melk on an outcrop overlooking the Danube, it has the rare distinction of surviving as an active Benedictine monastery continuously since its foundation. Founded in 1089 and rebuilt many times, the monastery today is a stunning example of Baroque architecture. Afterwards, reboard your ship and continue to Vienna, the capital of Austria. Day 9 - Vienna Famed for striking architecture, classical musical and vibrant cafe culture, Vienna is a truly delightful place to explore, packed with historical and cultural landmarks. A wide variety of architectural masterpieces can be seen here, including examples of Baroque and Romanesque design, representing many centuries of development. This morning savour the elegance of the city during a guided city sightseeing tour. See Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Vienna Opera House, St Stephen's Cathedral, Ringstrasse and more.
