Cunard

Why Cunard?

If travel is meant to be savored, then crossing the oceans should be a majestic experience, not merely a hop across the pond. For travelers of this persuasion, only one name evokes the pleasures of a golden era: Cunard Line. Proudly continuing the tradition of luxury cruising that began in 1840, Queen Mary 2 debuted in 2004 as the new flagship of The Most Famous Ocean Liners in the World. As the tallest, longest, largest and most expensive cruise ship ever built, QM2 provides her guests with unprecedented amenities and accommodations at every turn. Maintaining the tradition of her Cunard and White Star Line predecessors, QM2 is the only ship offering regularly scheduled transatlantic service. Queen Elizabeth 2 continues to set the standard of British elegance with superb White Star Service and gourmet cuisine. Sailing a definitive World Cruise and round-trip Southampton voyages, QE2 endures as one of the greatest liners of her time. The two Queens will be joined by Queen Victoria in 2007.

Space and comfort.

From the pleasure of a well-placed library armchair with a fine ocean view, the freedom to enjoy a wide variety of restaurant and bar experiences, to the possibility of a revitalising morning run on the promenade deck, throughout our ships you'll find thoughtfully designed open spaces or quiet corners for you to enjoy. Our ships offer more space for you to be you, whether that's relaxing in your spacious stateroom, enjoying pre-dinner cocktails in the Commodore Club, or enjoying the conversation over dinner in the Britannia Restaurant.

New experiences.

In addition to memorable shore excursions, there are many opportunities for fresh adventures during sea days to be found in salsa dance classes, traditional deck games, even a taste of the exhilarating sport of fencing, to name but a few possibilities. It's also in the simple delight of the unexpected - maybe being guided through a tasting by our expert sommeliers, where you could get acquainted with an exciting new wine producer. Perhaps you admire watercolours and yearn to express yourself in a few brushstrokes, or you might like to visit the solar system via Queen Mary 2's Illuminations, the only Planetarium at Sea. What will you discover?

Insight and enrichment.

If your holiday is about more than simply relaxing we invite you expand to expand your horizons. With our programme of insight and enrichment, you can hear from authorities in the fields of astronomy, history, politics, fashion and the arts with the opportunity to pose your questions and get to know the people behind the stories. You may even find yourself in conversation. Throughout the year we host several specialist event cruises, bringing together expert guest speakers, themed workshops and shore excursions to deepen your appreciation and understanding of the subject and meet fellow enthusiasts.

Shopping and spa.

Shop in the relaxed surroundings of the Royal Arcade and browse a range of some of the most prestigious brands, from high-fashion clothes and merchandise to watches and jewellery. Some collections are available exclusively on board Cunard ships. If you're looking to unwind then our indulgent spas offer refreshing hydrotherapy pools and a tempting menu of treatments and the only agenda is your relaxation and renewal.

Ship info

Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria is known for her elegance and her graceful splendour. Her unique facilities are amongst the most modern you will find and yet she has a special ambience so evocative of great liners past. With luxurious marbles, woods and rich fabrics she exudes elegance and is adored by her crew and passengers alike.

If anything sums up the freedom of your voyage, it is the array of places to eat, from healthy to hearty, from light bites to haute cuisine. Just let your mood decide. Your reserved table in your main restaurant is just one of so many tasty options. The Verandah restaurant offers inventive French inspired dining. Part of the Lido transforms each evening into three venues. Bamboo offers Asian fusion, Coriander serves Indian cuisine and Prime is the spot for succulent steaks and seafood.

The Queens Room is the heart of the ship, where you can enjoy our signature Afternoon Tea, dance all evening and even take fencing lessons. You can settle into a sear in a private box – the first at sea – in the Royal Court Theatre or relax in the Winter garden where the indoor meets the outdoors, especially when the glass roof opens on sunnier days. At night you may want to save time for the Empire Casino or put on your dancing shoes at the Hemisphere Club.

REFIT MID-2017

From 5 May to 4 June 2017, Queen Victoria entered dry dock for a partial refit at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Sicily. This included an upgraded and increased choice of staterooms, new Britannia Club dining, a broader and more distinct bar offering, a transformed sun deck, and several other new features. People have asked why Queen Victoria is being refitted when she already meets every expectation; she simply prefers to exceed them.

What's new:

  • 43 Britannia Club Balcony Staterooms on decks 7 & 8 & Britannia Club Restaurant (exclusive for Britannia Club Balcony Stateroom guests)
  • Refreshing of all Britannia Staterooms (newly designed carpets, soft furnishings, new flat screen TV's & tea/coffee facilities
  • Grand Suites & Deck 8 Aft Penthouse Suites have been completely redesigned to maximise space, offering enhanced comfort & entertainment options. Refreshed designs include a new colour scheme that harkens back to the line’s history with its signature Cunard purple. Created to mirror a luxurious residential apartment, the suites offer fabrics with a variety of rich textures and layers. The Cunard Grand Suites also include: floor-to-ceiling windows and doors, a separate service entrance and hospitality preparation area, a separate snug room with TV, a beautifully appointed lounge, a master bathroom with sea view, a second bathroom with guest access, a bedroom TV that folds down from the ceiling, a walk-in wardrobe with additional storage units, and a generous dual aspect balcony. Passengers can now enjoy five new Penthouse Suites (Q4) on Deck 8 aft which feature floor-to-ceiling windows, defined living and sleeping space and bathrooms with natural light. New colour schemes reflect Cunard’s signature jewel tones of deep red and geometric patterns.
  • Chart Room Bar - The new Chart Room is located on Deck 2 off the Grand Lobby, where Café Carinthia was located. The Chart Room features illy coffee, Godiva chocolate treats and light bites by day and stellar cocktails by night.
