Cunard

Why Cunard?

If travel is meant to be savored, then crossing the oceans should be a majestic experience, not merely a hop across the pond. For travelers of this persuasion, only one name evokes the pleasures of a golden era: Cunard Line. Proudly continuing the tradition of luxury cruising that began in 1840, Queen Mary 2 debuted in 2004 as the new flagship of The Most Famous Ocean Liners in the World. As the tallest, longest, largest and most expensive cruise ship ever built, QM2 provides her guests with unprecedented amenities and accommodations at every turn. Maintaining the tradition of her Cunard and White Star Line predecessors, QM2 is the only ship offering regularly scheduled transatlantic service. Queen Elizabeth 2 continues to set the standard of British elegance with superb White Star Service and gourmet cuisine. Sailing a definitive World Cruise and round-trip Southampton voyages, QE2 endures as one of the greatest liners of her time. The two Queens will be joined by Queen Victoria in 2007.

Space and comfort.

From the pleasure of a well-placed library armchair with a fine ocean view, the freedom to enjoy a wide variety of restaurant and bar experiences, to the possibility of a revitalising morning run on the promenade deck, throughout our ships you'll find thoughtfully designed open spaces or quiet corners for you to enjoy. Our ships offer more space for you to be you, whether that's relaxing in your spacious stateroom, enjoying pre-dinner cocktails in the Commodore Club, or enjoying the conversation over dinner in the Britannia Restaurant.

New experiences.

In addition to memorable shore excursions, there are many opportunities for fresh adventures during sea days to be found in salsa dance classes, traditional deck games, even a taste of the exhilarating sport of fencing, to name but a few possibilities. It's also in the simple delight of the unexpected - maybe being guided through a tasting by our expert sommeliers, where you could get acquainted with an exciting new wine producer. Perhaps you admire watercolours and yearn to express yourself in a few brushstrokes, or you might like to visit the solar system via Queen Mary 2's Illuminations, the only Planetarium at Sea. What will you discover?

Insight and enrichment.

If your holiday is about more than simply relaxing we invite you expand to expand your horizons. With our programme of insight and enrichment, you can hear from authorities in the fields of astronomy, history, politics, fashion and the arts with the opportunity to pose your questions and get to know the people behind the stories. You may even find yourself in conversation. Throughout the year we host several specialist event cruises, bringing together expert guest speakers, themed workshops and shore excursions to deepen your appreciation and understanding of the subject and meet fellow enthusiasts.

Shopping and spa.

Shop in the relaxed surroundings of the Royal Arcade and browse a range of some of the most prestigious brands, from high-fashion clothes and merchandise to watches and jewellery. Some collections are available exclusively on board Cunard ships. If you're looking to unwind then our indulgent spas offer refreshing hydrotherapy pools and a tempting menu of treatments and the only agenda is your relaxation and renewal.

Ship info

Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth is our newest luxury liner, named in 2010 by Her Majesty the Queen. Recalling the rich heritage of the first Cunarder to bear the name, her elegance and modern features have won her many accolades and made her a firm favourite with her passengers.

If anything sums up the freedom of your voyage, it is the array of places to eat, from healthy to hearty, from light bites to haute cuisine. Just let your mood decide. As well as the three main restaurants, you can sample the Mexican flavours of Aztec, the Asian menus of Jasmine, Asada’s South American Grill and the all-day buffets of the Lido restaurant. Then there’s the French cuisine of The Verandah restaurant, with its acclaimed sampler menu.

You can lose yourself on board, strolling beside the sea on the Promenade Deck, browsing the library with over 6,000 books to choose from, or playing croquet in the lawn of the Game Deck. It’s always so easy to socialise, whether you are relaxing in the conservatory style Garden Lounge as a band plays beside the promenade pool or you’re dancing in the intimate but lively Yacht Club.

It may be night time that most sets the Queen Elizabeth experience apart from other ships. For where else will you attend such dazzling affairs as a Black and White Ball, Royal Ascot Ball or Buccaneer Ball – all in a setting as stunning as the Queens Room ballroom.
